NON-FICTION
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is a debilitating neurological condition in which the brain is unable to effectively process sounds and speech even though hearing itself is not affected. APD is not rare: it can affect up to 10% of children according to some estimates (40% if they also have learning disabilities) and 20% of adults. It can be inherited and present from birth, or acquired at any age.
Whatever the cause, APD can have a significant impact on all aspects of lifelong communication, affecting education, work and relationships. My books aim to dispel the myths around this common yet misunderstood invisible disability and provide accurate, straightforward information and support strategies.

The books are available to buy via Amazon internationally in Kindle format, paperback, and free to those who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. They are also available from Jessica Kingsley Publishers and in many major book stores.
The first was written initially to help children to understand and accept their APD and know they are not alone, but it has also been beneficial to parents, families, and schools.
The second was written for parents and professionals, but it also includes a chapter about adults with APD, which all children with APD will become. There are also downloadable case studies about children and adults with APD who kindly volunteered to help spread awareness of what it's like to live with APD, in real terms, both about the struggles they have experienced and finding a way forward.
